Digital Painting and the Bamboo Create

Back in December while in a Computer Graphics class I learned of something called “Digital Painting” to say the least I’m not the best painter when it comes to paint, water, brushes, and paper so digital painting HAD to be much easier. At first it was hard to really paint in Photoshop with just my mouse pad but this was the end product.

It turned out pretty good for my first digital painting but I figured there had to be a way that I could “paint” easier because if I kept it up with my mouse pad I was sure to end up with carpal tunnel and a very tired hand. After searching and searching I found a gadget called a “Bamboo Tablet” more specifically the Bamboo Create.

This tablet is great for all types of digital art projects, including sketching, illustrating, and digital painting. What’s included in the box is:

  • Tablet
  • Pen
  • Software
  • Cord

It’s very lightweight and easy to hold and control. The pen flows easily and there is also a wireless connector you can buy. The software included has Adobe Photoshop elements and a Sketchbook app, also Corel drawing. It really takes some getting used to when it comes to drawing on your computer but once you get the hang of it you can really do some neat things with it. One of my first projects on my tablet was trying to design outfits because that’s one of my other passions, Fashion designing.

Three moths later here’s the progress:

So from what I’ve done so far with my Bamboo Create and digital painting I would highly recommend any designer giving it a try if you haven’t already. The tablet isn’t only for digital painting you can edit photos and much more with it also. Wacom also has different sizes and tablets to choose from (links below)
